Salfit: The Psychosocial counseling Center for Women organized a three-day winter camp at the Al-Muntazah Hall in Salfit, targeting 33 young women and girls. This initiative is part of the Young Women for Awareness, Agency, Advocacy, and Accountability (YW4A) program under the Noon of Change project, implemented in partnership with the YWCA of Palestine. The project aims to promote the rights of young women to dignity and bodily integrity and to achieve equality in decision-making by enforcing policies and laws that ensure gender justice.
During the Camp, Several Purposeful Activities Were Conducted:
Day One:
A discussion was held on the Family Protection Law with lawyer Bayan Mansour, highlighting the law’s content and provisions. The session emphasized the importance of continuing advocacy efforts to expedite its ratification.
Day Two:
The National Referral System and mechanisms for institutional cooperation were addressed in the presence of Major Nael Qadumi, Director of Family Protection from Violence in Salfit; Soha Mar’i, the Women’s Affairs Officer at the Ministry of Social Development; Haifa Al-Masri, a social worker at Martyr Yasser Arafat Hospital; and Maysoun Al-Khatib, a specialist at the Women’s Center for Psychological and Social Counseling.
Day Three:
Artist Jihan Abu Omar facilitated a psychological relief activity through art, allowing participants to express their emotions and renew their positive energy through colors.
The camp also included self-care and psychological relief activities, which contributed to enhancing the participants’ abilities and empowering them to face daily challenges. The participants expressed their appreciation for this exceptional initiative, which focuses on women’s issues and supports their empowerment within the community.
YW4A is a five-year program, funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and led by consortium partner World Young Women’s Christian Association (World YWCA), working in collaboration with YWCA Kenya, YWCA Palestine, Christian Agency For Peace And Development (CAPaD)- South Sudan, and Ibrahimia Media Center (IMC), Equality Now, KIT Royal Tropical Institute, and Faith to Action Network (F2A).
