On Sunday, October 6, 2024, the Psycho-Social Counseling Center for women organized a discussion session at the Hebron Governorate building titled: “The Economic Situation of Women in the West Bank.” Representatives from the Ministries of Labor, Women’s Affairs, and Social Development, along with officials from the Hebron Governorate and Municipality, attended the event. The session aimed to highlight the impact of Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people, particularly women, who are considered the most vulnerable group.
This aggression, which has persisted for a year, continues to affect various aspects of life across all social sectors.
The discussion focused on national plans and governmental responses, as well as the role of civil society organizations in addressing the consequences of the aggression on women, particularly female workers. The participants emphasized the importance of developing practical solutions to support women workers in Palestine, as they are one of the most affected groups. They called for unifying efforts to safeguard the economic standing of women, whether they are employees or business owners.
This event was organized as part of the “Women Capable of Change” project, a collaboration between the Women’s Psycho-Social Counseling Center and the Palestinian Working Woman Society for Development (PWWSD). The project is part of the Feminist Program for Women’s Economic Rights (FEM PAWER) program, funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The program is led by the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation (KTK) in partnership with the Arab Women Organization (AWO) from Jordan, the Collective for Research and Training on Development Action (CRTDA) from Lebanon, and the Palestinian Working Woman Society for Development (PWWSD).
