Hebron: As part of its efforts to enhance women’s abilities to address daily risks, the psychosocial Counseling Center for Women has concluded the “A Rescuer in Every Home” initiative. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Civil Defense Directorate and is part of the “We Rise” project in partnership with the War Child Foundation.
The initiative included a training session held at the Hebron Municipality Community Center/Sharek in the H2 area. The training targeted 30 women from neighborhoods most exposed to settler violence and assaults by Israeli occupation authorities in the old city of Hebron (H2).
This training aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills to handle emergency situations effectively, empowering them to act as first responders within their households. By addressing the unique challenges faced by women in these high-risk areas, the initiative seeks to foster resilience and enhance community preparedness.
The initiative aims to empower women by equipping them with essential skills to handle emergency situations, including fire response, evacuation, and psychological first aid, and providing them with practical tools to address daily risks caused by ongoing settler attacks, especially given the sensitive security conditions in the area. The training was conducted over four days and focused on how to file complaints and engage with relevant authorities to obtain protection services, practical guidance on handling fires of various types, training women on safe evacuation procedures during emergencies, fundamentals of coping with psychological stress after critical incidents, and providing psychological support.
The initiative concluded with the distribution of certified certificates from the Civil Defense Directorate, along with first aid kits for the women, enabling them to apply the skills they had learned in their daily lives. This training represents a crucial step in preparing women to face ongoing challenges, particularly amidst repeated settler attacks, while enhancing security and health awareness in areas most affected by violations from the Israeli occupation authorities. The initiative also emphasizes the vital role of women in protecting their families and communities.
