Bridging Awareness: The Psychosocial Counseling Center for Women organizes training sessions on gender-based violence, bringing together 191 young men and women on a journey towards change and awareness.
The Psychosocial Counseling Center for Women conducted a series of training sessions on ‘gender-based violence and introduction to protection service providers for abused women,’ targeting 191 young men and women from Bethlehem and Hebron governorates.
The training sessions focused on the concept of gender-based violence, identifying its types, and shedding light on the factors that contribute to its prevalence in Palestinian society. Awareness was also raised about protection service providers and methods of filing complaints, in addition to the referral mechanisms in place. At the conclusion of the training, each group of participants will work on implementing initiatives related to social issues that will play a vital role in achieving social change.
“These training sessions are part of the activities of the ‘We Rise’ project, implemented in partnership with War Child Holland Foundation. The project aims to enhance prevention and protection against violence and human rights violations, as well as promote accountability regarding women’s and girls’ rights and issues. It seeks to increase their participation in supporting security and peace in the occupied Palestinian territories and influencing decision-making at local and international levels”.
These training sessions were held in partnership and collaboration between the Guidance Center and each of Bethlehem University/College of Nursing, Bethlehem Research and Community Knowledge Library, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hebron Governorate, and Civil Defense/Hebron.
