In partnership with Reform Youth Foundation, The Psychosocial Counseling Center for Women had successfully launched the “AGENTS OF CHANGE FOR GENDER EQUALITY, AND FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE RIGHTS AND DIGNITY OF THE PALESTINIAN POPULATION UNDER OCCUPATION” project in Qalqilya Governorate on Wednesday, 18/1/2023, under the patronage of His Excellency the Governor of Qalqilya Governorate and by hosting the council participating in the Village’s Hotel in Qalqilya. An introductory session had been organized to announce the launch of the project, which is funded by the Extremadura region through the Assembly Cooperation for Peace.
The project, which targets the governorates of Salfit, Qalqilya, Tulkarem, and Tubas, aims to strengthen the role of young men and women and activate their role within the Palestinian society by providing them with the necessary information and mechanisms to advocate for their right to actively participate in the process of societal change and decision-making.
Within this project, the PSCCW will be specifically targeting Qalqilya villages such as Hajjah, Jinsafut, and Amatin in Qalqilya Governorate. Given this, there will be series of activities implemented in these regions as the following:
At the school level, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the following services will be provided:
1. Awareness and psychosocial education for male and female students.
2. Educating the student’s parents about problem-dealing mechanisms and ways to solve them without resorting to violence.
3. Training the student’s parliaments.
4. Implementing initiatives with student parliaments to improve the environmental situation of the school.
At the societal level:
1. Providing psychological and social support services to women.
2. Providing legal awareness services to women about their rights in accordance with Palestinian laws and legislation as stated in the Personal Status Law.
3. Training a group of active young women and providing them with crucial strategies to lead advocacy campaigns, as each group will implement a community initiative aimed at strengthening the role of women and young women in society.
4. Training a group of women to lead an income-generating project that which do women’s institutions in each village supervise.
5. Provide training for the trainers so they can train a group of male and female students about gender-based violence and service providers, as this group will raise the awareness of 3 groups of students at the university after the training under the supervision of the Counseling Center.
