The Psychosocial Counselling Center for Women (PSCCW) Organizes a Community Dialogue to Promote Employment Opportunities for Women and Youth in Hebron Governorate

In a meeting that embodied the spirit of collective responsibility and cross-sectoral collaboration, the PSCCW held an extensive dialogue session as part of the “Fem Power” project, under the title:
“Community Responsibilities in Addressing Youth Unemployment and Creating an Enabling Work Environment for Women”
The event took place at the Hebron Governorate Hall, with wide participation from representatives of governmental, civil society, and private sector institutions.
The session aimed to open a constructive dialogue on the challenges of the labor market in Hebron Governorate, exploring ways to enhance employment and economic empowerment opportunities for youth and women, thereby contributing to building a productive, economically and socially balanced community.
Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Labor, Hebron Governorate, Chamber of Commerce, General Federation of Trade Unions of Palestine, in addition to women organizations, civil society, and academic organizations, as well as young entrepreneurs. They shared their experiences and challenges in confronting unemployment and proposed creative solutions that bridge education with the labor market, while promoting a culture of entrepreneurship and self-employment.
Institutional representatives presented their programs supporting youth employment and women’s empowerment, emphasizing the importance of ensuring a safe and equitable work environment to sustain development and promote economic participation. They also stressed the need to align education and vocational training with local market needs and to expand partnerships between academic and private sectors to generate new employment opportunities based on competence and skill.
The dialogue concluded with key recommendations focusing on joint action and structural change in policies and practices, including:
- Developing entrepreneurship and labor market skills curricula in universities in partnership with the private sector to ensure alignment between academic outputs and local economic needs.
- Creating new employment opportunities in both public and private sectors through flexible education policies that attract young talents.
- Promoting work in agricultural and industrial sectors as vital fields of development and economic resilience.
- Raising awareness on positive consumption and encouraging self-production by supporting small and micro-family and youth projects.
- Ensuring workplaces free from violence and discrimination through binding agreements and effective governmental monitoring of justice and equality standards.
- Encouraging youth and graduates to develop themselves and acquire leadership and technical skills to keep pace with the changing demands of the labor market.
At the conclusion of the meeting, PSCCW reaffirmed its commitment to following up on the implementation of the recommendations in cooperation with all partners from governmental, civil society, and work estblishments, to ensure that the outcomes of the dialogue are translated into practical and sustainable action plans that strengthen economic and social justice in Hebron Governorate.
