Ramallah – The Psychosocial Counseling Center for Women concluded a training entitled “Enhancing Lawyers’ Capacities in Understanding the Legal and Regulatory Framework in the World of Work.” The workshop focused on strengthening the protection of working women within both national and international contexts and was attended by 25 young female lawyers.
The workshop was conducted over five training hours and focused on developing a deeper legal understanding of the relationship between the parties involved in the world of work. It highlighted the role of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in setting labor standards and conventions, particularly those related to the protection of women, with special emphasis on Convention No. 190 on the elimination of violence and harassment in the workplace.
The training included a critical review of the Palestinian Labor Law and its alignment with international standards, alongside an analysis of the realities of the labor market in Palestine, the challenges faced by working women, and the proposal of legal and social protection mechanisms to ensure a safe and equitable working environment.
This training comes within the framework of the Young Women for Awareness, Agency, Advocacy and Accountability (YW4A) – Noon for Change program,
implemented in partnership between the Psychosocial Counseling Center for Women and the YWCA of Palestine. The program aims to promote young women’s rights to dignity and bodily integrity and to advance equality in decision-making through the enforcement of policies and laws that ensure gender justice.
