PSCCW enables women in Awarta to establish a women’s association to enhance their role in local development

Psycho-Social Counseling Center for Women conducted a specialized training focused on building the capacities of women in the village of Awarta, located southeast of Nablus, with the aim of enabling them to establish an effective women’s association in the village. This was done within the framework of the “Localized Nexus Strategy for the integrated protection of the rights and dignity of the population” project, funded by Generalitat Valenciana (GVA) in cooperation with Asamblea de Cooperacion por la Paz (ACPP).

The training lasted for six days, focusing on developing the participants’ institutional skills through an integrated package of topics, including strategic planning, building institutional frameworks, project management, in addition to developing skills in preparing and writing administrative and financial reports, and enhancing coordination and networking capabilities with various stakeholders.

This training comes within the framework of PSCCW’s vision to empower women and enhance their leadership roles in the local community by supporting feminist initiatives and providing them with the necessary knowledge and practical tools to establish and manage feminist associations capable of responding to their needs.

This intervention is particularly important given the economic and social realities faced by women in the village of Awarta, where unemployment rates are significantly high, opportunities for economic participation are limited, and access to basic services, including psychosocial support, is poor.

Furthermore, women bear the increasing burden of caring for their families. In this context, training represents a practical step towards empowering women and enhancing their independence by transforming knowledge into collective initiatives that contribute to creating economic opportunities and strengthening community participation.

This activity underscores the pivotal role of PSCCW in investing in women’s capabilities, not only as beneficiaries but also as active partners in creating sustainable change within their communities, especially in environments suffering from limited resources and increasing challenges. This serves   PSCCW’s strategy, which is based on building sustainable partnerships with grassroots women’s organizations to ensure the sustainability of service provision for women in areas that are far from service sources.
