“Hebron: The Psychosocial Counseling Center for Women meets with the Municipality of Hebron to sign an agreement for the construction of a second floor for the Tareq ibn Ziyad Community Center in the Old City of Hebron (‘H2’) as part of the ‘Aman’ project funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and German cooperation.”
This construction aims to provide a safe space for women and youth, including a child-friendly corner, as the targeted area lacks safe places. It is one of the most affected areas in the West Bank where Palestinian citizens suffer from psychological, social, and economic pressures due to almost daily violations and harassment by Israeli occupation authorities, settler attacks on them and their properties, demolition and confiscation of their homes, in addition to barriers imposed to hinder citizens’ movement. Therefore, this space will provide an opportunity for youth to innovate, participate in community activities, and enhance their role as change-makers. Furthermore, it will provide an opportunity for psychological and social support for women and children in conditions that ensure maximum privacy.
